The Grapefruits of Wrath
It's not the drought
or the dust swirling everywhere.
It's not the mattress tied to the top of the car
or the long trip to California
where you won't be welcomed.
No, it's the squirt in the eye.
Edmund Conti has had some of his poems anthologized in "O Taste andSee," "Lighten Up—100 funny little poems," "Kiss and Part," "The Random House Treasury of Light Verse" and "Maybe He's Dead and other hilarious results of the New York Magazine competitions."
Conti was a featured poet in Light Magazine which has disappeared into the internet. He was also published in Gordon Lish's The Quarterly, Orphic Lute, Dog River Review, Stone Drum, Bold Print and Z Miscellaneous. They have also all vanished. His condolences to the next of KIN.
